Folonari 2018 Pinot Grigio: Look! What’s on Tap?
Summer 2020 is officially in full swing, so today we’re bringing you another Pinot Grigio tasting review! We picked up the Folonari 2018 Pinot Grigio from our local grocery store a couple of weeks ago and thought it would be a great way to start off summer.
We’ve reviewed Pinot Grigios before, but basically you should expect these varietals of wine to be somewhat dry, refreshing, and fruit-forward. So, it’s no surprise that the bouquet of the Folonari 2018 Pinot Grigio is very clean and crisp. There are light floral notes, but we also detected the scent of wet stones. The bouquet does not linger in your nose for long, which I honestly prefer for summer or daytime wines.
This wine’s flavor is just as crisp as the bouquet. It has sharp, green apple notes and a refreshing off-dry flavor. The wine also has a somewhat briny note that hits with every sip. But don’t be dissuaded; it is not off-putting in the least when combined with its fresh notes.
Crisp, Crisp, Crisp. Those are the words I would use to describe the Folonari 2018 Pinot Grigio — each note is fresh but short-lived, and it harkens you to a seafront cottage with salt-worn porches and a warm breeze. It honestly is a great summer sipper, and we could definitely see ourselves serving this up with some fresh fish, grilled shrimp, or even margherita pizza!
