Barefoot Pinot Grigio: Look! What’s on Tap?
Flowers are budding, the sun lingers more as the days slide by, and the tendrils of summer’s touch are on their way. A toast to the season’s change is obviously in order, and what better wine to christen the leisurely spring days than with a glass of Pinot Grigio? This dry white wine is recognizable for its acidic fruit notes and refreshing flavor profile – which makes it perfect for this week’s tasting.
The Pinot Grigio we decided to review comes from Barefoot on Tap, Barefoot Wine’s new premium boxed line. With spring on our minds and mexican food in our bellies, we poured ourselves a (previously chilled) glass from the tap. Upon the first pour, we were immediately struck by how aromatic this wine was! Its bouquet was juicy; it smelled like sitting under ripe grape vines on an August afternoon! There were also hints of crisp green apple. This wine was mouthwatering before we even took our first sip.
Speaking of that first sip, right away you notice how light and palate-pleasing this wine is. Fruit-forward with no tartness at all, it’s not as dry as your typical Pinot Grigio. This would be perfect for someone who is interested in trying wine for the first time. Nevertheless, seasoned wine lovers would also fall in love with its fruit laden flavor profile. This wine is practically begging to be drank by the pool. We give this wine 5 out of 5 taps. A definite recommend!
As for pairings? We felt like this wine would work well with pork and savory hors d’oeuvres.
This wine is a fun, easy to drink wine – perfect for the warm months to come!
